“To be seen, but with the hands.
The sofa designed with blind people
by designers Debonademeo”
The society we live in places sight above
any other sense, so we wanted to explore
what would happen if we put it somewhat aside.
We had already encountered disability both
in our personal lives and in academic contexts.
For example, I attended a master’s program
at Ca’ Foscari University focused on designing
museum spaces for blind visitors. Yet, we still remained,
to a large extent, outsiders to that world.
What we expected to be a journey into darkness
turned instead into a journey of light and colour.
