AEDO, THE SOFA WITH A PLURAL VISION BY DESIGNERS DEBONADEMEO AND A TEAM OF BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED CO-DESIGNERS, WINS THE ARCHIPRODUCTS DESIGN AWARD 2025 IN THE FURNITURE CATEGORY

6 November 2025AEDO, the sofa born from a co-design journey between Adrenalina designers Debonademeo Studio (Luca Bona and Dario De Meo) and a team of blind and visually impaired people, has won the Archiproducts Design Award 2025 in the Furniture category.
The collaboration was developed within Adrenalina Incontra, the curatorial project launched in 2025 with Museo Omero in Ancona and the Istituto dei Ciechi Francesco Cavazza in Bologna. The project was featured at Milan Design Week 2025 and BOLD – Bologna Live Design, concluding at Triennale Milano with a talk dedicated to the meaning and value of co-design.
A touching and meaningful recognition that celebrates the essence of inclusive, human-centered design and the collaboration between companies, designers, and institutions that share the same vision.
The name Aedo recalls the ancient blind storytellers who roamed the world singing tales of myths and heroes. Likewise, the Aedo sofa becomes a storyteller and interpreter of the everyday beauty of those who use it. It speaks to everyone, reminding us that design is first and foremost an experience — a service to people’s well-being.
AEDO is a design sofa created by excluding sight. Its story represents the culmination of an experimental, unconventional design process — a synesthetic journey of co-design with blind and visually impaired people, in collaboration with Debonademeo Studio.
This approach goes beyond traditional aesthetics, proposing a new design language rooted in sensory perception. Aedo is not a sofa designed “for” blind people, but a sofa designed “with” them, offering a universal model suitable for everyone.
Conceived through a tactile and non-visual approach, Aedo’s form is the result of dialogue, observation, and exchange with those who perceive the world through touch. Every curve, fold, and texture variation is discovered through tactile exploration, smell, and the temperature of materials.

Every detail of Aedo was born from the direct experience of the blind and visually impaired participants, who suggested more welcoming shapes, softer edges, and differentiated surfaces to make perception more intuitive and nuanced. Its rounded, seamless lines follow the body’s ergonomics in a fluid, natural way, fostering personal and spontaneous interaction.
Aedo is made up of modular elements and accommodates various functions, including an integrated charging point for electronic devices and practical side pockets — strategically placed for easy access to store remotes, books, and personal items.
The soft cushions can be rearranged to adapt the seating to different needs, offering flexibility and comfort. The matching pouf is not just a complementary piece but includes a storage compartment to help keep things organized and optimize space.
